What’s New at SCU

ANNUAL MEETING - Spojnia Credit Union will hold its Annual Meeting, March 3, 2012 at 10:30 am.  The meeting will be held on the 2nd floor of the Polish National Catholic Church Center located at 1006 Pittston Avenue, Scranton, PA.  As a member, we encourage you to participate in our Annual Meeting.  It is a grat opportunity for you to ask questions, review the past year and take a look at what is planned for the upcoming year.  You will be able to meet the Board of Directors, Committee Members and Staff.  There are four seats up for re-election this year.  There is one on the Board of Directors, one on the Credit Committee and two on the Supervisory Committee.  If interested in running for one of the positions you can contact the Nominating Committee; Carol Mikovsky (570) 344-0916, Carl Cwikla (570) 457-0440 or Cathy Wudarski (570) 654-2117. A free catered luncheon will be served immediately after the meeting.  Save the date and join us Saturday, March 3, 2012.  Please contact the credit union at 570-344-1513 with your reservation.  Snow date will be March 10, 2012.

2012 SCHOLARSHIP - Spojnia Credit Union will be awarding one $500.00 scholarship to a credit union member who is a high school senior graduating this June and furthering their education at the next level. The member must be in good standing with the credit union as well as the community.  Applicants will be required to submit a 500 word essay in response to the question printed on the scholarship application.  Applications will be sent to all Spojnia Credit Union members ages 17 and 18 by January 31, 2012.  Submission deadline is May 1, 2012.  Winner will be notifed in June 2012.    For more information or an application, contact the credit union at 570-344-1513.

 

Share (Savings) Account - Your share account is your "share" in Spojnia Credit Union as a member.  An initial share deposit of $5.00 is required.  Dividends are declared quarterly by the Board of Directors.

Christmas Club - Holiday expenses are easier when you save throughout the year with a Spojnia Credit Union Christmas Club.  The club runs for fifty weeks and checks are disbursed October 1.  Dividends are calculated by the average daily balance method and posted quarterly.  Maximum amount is $5000.00.

Vacation Club - You work hard all year.  Your vacation is your time to relax and refuel for next year's tough demands. Spojnia Credit Union's Vacation Club is exactly what you need to get the vacation you deserve.  The club begins in April and runs for fifty weeks.  Checks are disbursed each April 1.  Dividends are calculated by the average daily balance method and posted quarterly.  Maximum amount is $5000.00.

Share Draft Account - A Share Draft Account is the same as a checking account.  No per check charge, no monthly maintenance fee, no minimum balance required, dividends are calculated by the average daily balance method and posted monthly.  Checks are ordered through a vendor and mailed directly to your home.  Charges for printing the checks vary according to the style chosen. Limited Time -  open a share draft account and the first box of blue safety checks is FREE!

Share Certificate of Deposit - A Share Certificate is a great way to earn higher annual percentage yield. These time deposits pay the highest possible ratesl  The credit union currently offers a six, twelve, twenty-four and thirty-six month certificate.  Rates are fixed for the entire certificate term.  Dividends are calculated by the average daily balance method and posted quarterly.  A minimum deposit of $1000.00 is required. Jumbo share certificates are available with a minimum deposit of $50,000.00 for a twenty-four and thirty-six month share certificate. 

Direct Deposit - Your money is automatically deposited and immediately available regardless of where you are.  You don't have to worry about a lost, stolen, or mail delayed check.  Most federal payments are now issued by electronic funds transfer (EFT).  Direct Deposit will be mandatory for all federal government benefit payments by March 1, 2013. 

National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund - a fund maintained by the United States Treasury and administered by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).  Similar to the FDIC, the NCUA provides share insurance for credit union members, up to $250,000.00. Example

Signature Loan - A quick and easy way to borrow money without collateral. Terms are available from 12 months to 60 months.  Maximum amount $15,000.00.  Apply Today.

Organization Signature Loan - Parishes and other non-profit associations associated with the Polish National Union of America or the Polish National Catholic Church who have membership with Spojnia Credit Union are eligible to apply for loan.  Maximum amount is $25,000.00.  Terms up to 15 years. New Vehicle Loans - 100% Financing (excluding tax and tags).  Spojnia Credit Union will loan up to $50,000.00.    Collateral - Car Title.  The borrower must carry auto insurance against collision, fire, theft and comprehensive losses and the loss payee clause in favor of the Spojnia Credit Union. Used Auto Loans - Maximum amount - granted according to clean loan value listed in NADA Official Used Car Guide. Collateral - Car Title.  When a car title is used as collateral, the borrower must carry auto insurance against collision, fire, theft, and comprehensive losses and the loss payee clause in favor of the Spojnia Credit Union.  Terms up to five (5) years.    APPLY TODAY

Home Equity Loans - When you need to borrow money for any reason, the cash you need may be right in your own home.  Use the funds to consolidate debt, make home improvements, go green, pay for a college education and more. Terms - 5, 10  and 15 years. Share Secured Loans - You can make money and spend it too, with a Share Secured Loan.  If you are considering withdrawing money from your share account to fund a purchase, think again.  Why not borrow the money you need against your Share Account.  You will get a great interest rate. Plus you can borrow up to five (5) years, and your money stays in the your account earning interest.  As you pay down the loan, additional funds in your share account become available.  Loan terms up to 60 months.  APPLY TODAY

Youth Credit Builder Loan - Spojnia Credit Union will extend credit to members at ages 16 and 17.  A parent or guardian will be required to be a co-applicant. The youth must demonstrate the ability to repay the loan by providing proof of income sufficient to cover a monthly loan payment. In an effort to help our youth members establish credit and to promote good borrowing habits; there will be $25.00 required as security against the loan.  A youth will be allowed to borrow against their shares provided that there are sufficient funds to borrow against.  Maximum amount $1000.00. Holiday/Seasonal Loans - Need extra money during the holidays?  Spojnia Credit Union's low interest holiday loans are available.  Minimum amount is $500, Maximum is $2500.  Terms up to 24 months.  APPLY TODAY

Loan Protection Insurance - Spojnia Credit Union borrowers are insured, if eligible, at no cost to themselves, up to the amount of the loan outstanding, in case of unexpected death or permanent total disability.  Maximum amount is $25,000.00.  Insurance terminates on your 70th birthday.

Credit Disability Insurance (CDI) - Spojnia Credit Union offers CDI to eligible members under age 65 and gainfully employed.  If the borrower suffers total disability from sickness or accident, which continues beyond the policy-waiting period of fourteen days, loan payments will be made up to policy maximum.  The premium is added to the loan payment.

U2 Youth Club- The Spojnia Credit Union's Board of Directors realizes how important the youth are to the future of the credit union.  Having a share account teaches you how to save money for that something special.  Whether you are saving for a bike or your first car, Spojnia Credit Union is here to help. U2 Youth Club means, you too can save. The youth program is split into three age categories: 0-6 years of age, 7-13 years of age and 14-18 years of age.  An age appropriate gift is given to all new accounts, newsletters and contests are done quarterly. A $500.00 scholarship is given out annually to a Spojnia Credit Union member who is a high school senior furthering their education at the next level.

Notary Service - Make an appointment to have your important papers notarized while you visit the credit union.  Your advance appointment will guarantee that your credit union stop will accomplish all of your errands.  This service is FREE to credit union members.
